New Standard Whitehall is located on the city’s main business strip—at 812 E. Colby Street—which is conveniently located just off of US 31.
Whitehall and nearby Montague are twin cities with wetlands and a bridge that connects the two cities. White Lake is a focal point of the area, it’s the lake that connects the White River to Lake Michigan. White Lake is 5 ½ miles long and a mile wide and is 71 feet deep at its deepest point. White Lake is great for sailing, swimming, boating and fishing.
Heading out the White Lake channel into Lake Michigan is the White River Light Station Museum. The brick building and lighthouse were built in 1875 and remain an iconic and popular landmark—they’re worth a visit.
In Whitehall, The Playhouse at White Lake is a newly restored theatre that hosts plays and shows movies, too. The downtown business district features shops, breweries, bars and restaurants.
Michigan’s first linear State Park begins in Montague and travels to Hart over 22 miles of Michigan countryside—it’s a bike trail in the spring, summer and fall and it’s used for skiing and snowmobiling in the snowy season. And just for fun, grab a snap at the World’s Largest Weathervane—which was cast and built in Whitehall and is located in Montague at Ellenwood Landing.
